Many times employees in the oil field who move from the southwest to the oil-producing regions of the west have never driven in winter conditions. In fact, many experienced professional drivers spend large parts of their careers and never experience winter driving. We offer a 10-hour course that allows drivers to experience winter driving any time of the year from the simulator.

The course includes:

  • Snow and ice conditions
  • Handling skids
  • Wind, from gusts to unexpected turbulence
  • Rain and the elements of hydroplaning
  • Soft shoulder recovery
  • Over-steering responses
  • Vehicle failures
  • Blown steer tires and recovery methods
  • Long mountain passes and proper gear selections
  • Long downhill grades and proper gearing
  • Braking and choosing the proper methods
  • Hazard avoidance measures
  • Animals
  • Pedestrians
  • Road hazards
