CDL Permit Preparation

Each state requires that a driver take and successfully pass a state administered commercial driver's license (CDL) written exam. This exam includes:
 
  • General knowledge
  • Air brakes
  • Combination vehicles
  • Endorsements – tankers, hazardous materials, and doubles

The Center for Transportation Safety course will assist the entry level student in obtaining the State CDL learner's permit, which will allow them to drive while under the supervision and direction of a licensed CDL holder. A Department of Transportation physical is also required to obtain a permit.

The learner's permit is required prior to taking the Center for Transportation Safety 120 hour Novice CDL course.
