This review is intended for drivers of all classifications who were involved in some form of accident.

  • Preventable
  • Non Preventable

Drivers who are assigned to this course will be required to bring a copy of the accident report.

The accident will be reviewed with the driver by a Center for Transportation Safety Accident Investigator.

After reviewing all documents and interviewing the driver, a complete driver evaluation will be performed, including:

  • Duplicating the conditions relative to the accident
  • Evaluating the driver's skills, techniques, and attitudes
  • Presenting similar situations to determine habit versus situation
  • Creating scenarios relevant to similar conditions which the driver may have experienced prior to the accident
Drivers participating in this review will be required to attend a 4-hour Defensive Driver Training course if they have not done so in the 90 days prior to the accident.

Special attention will be given to assisting the driver in understanding the situation and helping them prevent or minimize damage if faced with similar situations in the future. Drivers will be awarded a certificate of completion in the course.

A complete "Driver Review" will be generated on each driver and posted on secured web site at www.ushighwaysafety.com . Managers and supervisors will be given passwords to access drivers' records .

Any driver who poses a safety sensitive situation will be reported to their direct supervisor at once. Recommendations on possible solutions will be made available. Special attention to scheduling the driver for follow-up training will be available to assist in getting the driver back to work as soon as safely possible.
