Too often, a manager is assigned responsibility for their company's vehicles and Department of Transportation issues without a strong transportation or transportation regulations background. This course gives managers the information necessary to manage, run, and audit their dispatch and transportation departments. Our course will familiarize the manager with relevant federal regulations and help him or her reduce their transportation and compliance related risk exposures.

The course covers the Federal Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Parts 40, 382, 383, 387, 390-397 and 399, including:

  • Drug and alcohol testing and programs
  • Required equipment files and necessary information
  • Driver information files and data retention times
  • Insurance requirements
  • Vehicle specifications and requirements
  • CDL hazmat endorsement
  • Driver qualifications and licensing files
  • Brake testing, load securement, Hours of Service, and tire checks
Each participant will receive an Audit Kit that will allow them to go back to their operations and effectively perform a DOT-type audit to limit exposure. As part of the course, participants are able, for the next year, to contact the Center for Transportation Safety experts for answers to company-specific questions.
