this course is to educate experienced CDL drivers on the changes from current Hours of Service regulations to 2004 standards under rule 395 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation.
This course will include (but is not limited to) the follow topics:
- New rules of service as imposed by Federal Department of Transportation, effective January 4, 2004
- Clarification of terminology as it relates to Hours of Service
- Sleeper berth regulations
- Off duty reset and compliance to exceptions
- Proper recording of Hours of Service
- Driver Vehicle Inspection Report
- Weather condition delays and reporting
- DOT inspection stops and reporting
- Extended hours
- Exceptions
The course provides accurate, up-to-date knowledge, skills, techniques, and real world tools that every driver can take with them. Dynamic PowerPoint style presentations bring high definition digital graphics to the course.
Certified Trainers with years of driving experience conduct the courses using handout materials, self-evaluations, and a final written exam. Student participation assures that the classes are interactive and engaging.
Upon completion of the course, each driver spends time with their trainer to review their skills, critique their techniques, and discuss their attitudes towards their profession. Questions will be answered and recommendations posed.
At the conclusion of the course, each student completes an evaluation that will be used for course improvement. A "Certificate of Completion" is presented to students satisfactorily completing the course. Grades, performance charts, and recommendations on all participants are promptly posted on our secure web reporting site at www.ushighwaysafety.com .
